The Ontario real premium index
What Ontario drivers actually pay, submitted by drivers. No quotes, no brokers.
Why this existsEvery published Ontario premium figure comes from a source with something to sell — a comparison site, a broker, or an insurer. There is no independent record of what drivers actually pay for a given car in a given city. This is an attempt to build one from the only reliable source: real policies.
What we will and will not do with this
- Publish medians and ranges only, never an individual policy
- Never sell or share submissions with insurers or brokers
- Never present our own estimates as if they were collected data
- Show nothing until there is enough volume to be honest about
- Collect no name, email, policy number or driver’s licence number
Submit what you actually pay
About a minute. Nothing identifies you.
✓ Recorded — thank youReal premiums are the only way this becomes accurate. Every submission makes the next person’s estimate better.
The index
This is where the published index will appear. It is empty because nothing has been collected yet.

Not enough submissions yet
Nothing here is modelled, estimated or filled in from industry averages. When enough real premiums have been submitted, the medians by city and vehicle appear here. Until then this stays empty on purpose.

Why real premiums matter more than estimates
Our own insurance cost estimator is built from publicly known rating factors — territory, vehicle, experience, record, coverage. It is a model. It has never been checked against a large set of real Ontario quotes, and we say so on the tool itself.
Real submitted premiums are the only thing that can fix that. With enough of them, the territory base rates behind every estimate on this site can be corrected against reality rather than inference. That is the whole purpose of this page.
What makes a submission useful
- The actual annual figure you pay — not a quote you were given and declined.
- Coverage level, because liability-only and full coverage are not comparable numbers.
- Your city or area, since territory moves Ontario premiums more than anything else.
- Record, because a clean driver and one with an at-fault claim are different datasets.
If you pay monthly, multiply by twelve rather than entering the monthly figure — monthly billing usually carries a small financing charge, which is worth capturing consistently.
These figures are modelled from Ontario rating factors and calibrated to published averages — not quotes. See exactly how they are calculated.
